BURNISHED BRASS Diachrysia chrysitis
Common.
There are two forms which appear to be equally widespread.In f.juncta (top image) the cross bar on the wing is split so that the two golden areas are joined.
In f. aurea (lower image) the cross bar is complete thus dividing the golden area into two segments. 
Scottish Status: Common - stable. UK Status: Common
UK abundance has significantly declined long-term & a small reduction in distribution (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 16th June to 9th September
