COMMON MARBLED CARPET Dysstroma (Chloroclysta) truncata
Common in suitable habitat.
Described by Rosie as common and widespread but it was recorded only sparingly at five of the Rothamsted sites.
Flight period overlaps with Dark Marbled Carpet but peak is mid-July whereas that for Dark Marbled Carpet is mid-August.
Scottish Status: Common - stable. UK Status: Common
UK distribution has increased since 1970 (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 14th June to 18th September (2 late record2 30th September & 8th October)
Very variable. Third image shows typical underwing pattern - compare with Dark Marbled Carpet
