EARLY TOOTH-STRIPED Trichopteryx carpinata
Current status unclear but probably local in suitable habotat but under recorded because of flight period
Two forms occur - lower photograph shows form fasciata
Rosie described it as fairly common in Regions 2 and 4.
There are scattered records of single individuals from two Rothamsted and other sites and of 8 in ND12 in 2022
Scottish Status: Common - stable. UK Status: Common
UK abundance has increased greatly since 1970 (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 12th April to 21st May
