Local in suitable habitat - probably some immigration as it is regularly recorded away from moorland.
Rosie stated that it was not uncommon except in Region 3. There is one record from the Latheron Rothamsted site in 1981 and three from the Halkirk site in 1984.
Recently there are records from ND13 in 2005 and annually from 2009 at sites scattered across the County particularly from those regularly monitored
Scottish status: Common - stable.  UK status: Local
UK distribution has declined since 1970 particularly in the south (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 8th May to 23rd June
