Few recent records so may be either under recorded because of lack of field work in optimum habitat or in decline
Common on moors throughout the County according to Rosie and recorded at 5 of the  Rothamsted sites in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1987 and almost annually between 1990 and 2002.
Scottish Status: Common but declining? UK Status: Common
UK distribution has decreased severely since 1970 but abundance trend is stable
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 2nd July to 9th October
