Current status uncertain - possibly under recorded or has declined.
Rosie recorded it as widespread and not uncommon on moors.

Three records from the Reay Rothamsted site between 1991 and 1993 and single records from four sites sice 2009
Scottish Status: Wildly scattered but infrequent - marked decline since 1980. UK Status: Common
UK abundance decreased very severely since 1970 (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 30th May to 7th August
