Current status unclear - appears to have declined in recent decades.
Described by Rosie as common, but subsequently only three records from the Reay Rothamsted site in 1982, 1995 and 1996 and singles from ND27 in 2009, 2013, 2016 and 2021
Scottish Status: Widespread at lower altitudes but not often numerous - stable. UK Status: Common
UK distribution shows little long-term change but abundance has declined severely (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 26th June to 25th July
