Scarce but probably widely distributed.  (Overwintering individuals probably overlooked because of lack of surveying of suitable sites)
Scottish Status: Common - stable. UK Status: Common
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: Spring: 9th April to 3rd June  Autumn: 25th August to 6th November. Two July records on 6th and 17th.
Now emerging from winter dormancy earlier than in the 1970s. (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
