PALE MOTTLED WILLOW Caradrina (Paradrina) clavipalpis
Scarce and has declined.
Said by Rosie to be fairly common and a scattering of records from four of the Rothamsted sites between 1984 and 1997.
Only recent records are singles from ND35 in 2011 and 2012 and one from ND16 in 2012

UK overall trends show no significant change but it is scarcer and much declined in Scotland and Northern England (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 28th July to 28th October.  One late record 23rd December of adult in cow byre
There is one record of a freshly emerged adult found indoors on 11th March in ND37. Accidental, artificial introduction of a larva or egg cannot be eliminated.
