PURPLE CLAY   Diarsia brunnea
Widespread in small numbers in suitable habitat, but can be common in broadleaved woodland
Rosie described it as well established in a wood near Wick and it was recorded at three of the Rothamsted sites. .
Scottish Status: Common -stable. UK Status: Common
UK distribution stable but abundance has declined significantly since 1970 (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 18th June to 21st August  (one late record 4th September)
