Widespread but thinly distributed. Regularly recorded in small numbers in recent years mainly from well monitored sites
Described by Rosie as common except in Region 3 and there were regular but infrequent records from six of the Rothamsted sites.
Scottish Status: Common - perhaps a decline since 1980. UK Status: Common
UK distribution has decreased significantly since 2000 & there has been a major decline in long-term abundance (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 24th May to 14th July
