Appears to have increased in the last three decades as Rosie described it as uncommon in Region 1, becoming more common in Regions 2 and 4
Base colour variable from darkish buff to white. The striated form is very scarce.
Scottish Status: Common -stable. UK Status: Common
UK distribution shows a moderate long-term increase with a significant decline in abundance (cf: Atlas of Britain & Ireland's Larger Moths)
First and last flight dates recorded in Caithness: 2nd May to 30th July (one late record 29th August)
